2010 PPWLS Conference Cheer Championships

Congratulations to our CCYS Cheer teams for the outstanding performances at the 2010 PPWLS Conference Cheer Championships on Saturday, October 30th at the Leavey Center on the campus of Santa Clara University. Our Junior Midget Cheer in the Small Novice Division will advance to the 2010 Pop Warner Pacific Northwest Regional Cheer Championships and the Midget Cheer in the Small Novice Division will advance to the 2010 Pop Warner Pacific Northwest Regional Invitationals. Both events will held on Friday, November 26th at the Leavy Center. Our Junior Midget Cheer can advance to 2010 Pop Warner National Cheer Championships at Disney World in Orlando, Florida with a 1st or 2nd place finish at the Pacific Northwest Regionals.

2010 PPWLS Cheer Invitational Results

Congratulations to our Tiny Mite/Mitey Mite, Junior Pee Wee, Junior Midget and Midget Cheerleaders for their outstanding performances at the 2010 PPWLS Cheer Invitational at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. The CCYS family salutes you for your hard work and commitment to excellence. The Junior Midget cheerleaders placed 1st in the Small Novice division and the Midget cheerleaders placed 4th in the Small Novice division. Both teams brought home trophies. Now all our teams are working hard to strengthen their routines in preparation for the 2010 PPWLS Cheer Championships to be held October 30, 2010 at Leavey Center on the campus of Santa Clara University. This cheer competition is the first step on the road to the National Championships at Disney World in Orlando, Florida in December. The Junior Midget cheerleaders are trying to be the first ever CCYS Junior Midget team to qualify and the Midget Cheer team is trying to return for the second consecutive year and the fourth time in the last five years. Can you say we’re going to Disney World?

2010 PPWLS Division 1 Football Playoff Semi Finals/ Pop Warner Division 3 “Best of The West” Bowl Games

CCYS will be hosting the 2010 PPWLS Division 1 Playoff Semi Finals on either Saturday, November 6th or Sunday, November 7th. In addition, CCYS has been selected to host the inaugural Pop Warner Division 3 ” Best of The West” Bowl Games featuring Division 3 championship teams from the:

  • Pacific Northwest Region (Nor Cal, Northern Nevada, Washington, Oregon Alaska);
  • Wescon Region ( So. Cal, Southern Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii); and
  • Mid America Region ( Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin)

on Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th. It is a great honor for CCYS to be selected by PPWLS to host these events and it reflects the outstanding job that we have done in past hosting major PPWLS events including the 2007 and 2009 PPWLS Conference Football Championships. We need the support of our entire CCYS family to continue our tradition of being an outstanding host. We will be providing additional information about these events in the weeks to come.

2010 PPWLS Spirit Jamboree

The date and location of the 2010 PPWLS Spirit Jamboree has been changed from Saturday, September 18th at Andrew Hill HS to Sunday, September 19th at Morgan Hill Sports Complex. The admission fee for this event is $8.00 for all ages.

Parking Info: Important!

The Morgan Hill Sports Complex will be charging $5/vehicle to park in the parking lot attached to the Morgan Hill Sports Complex. This includes ALL Handicap parking spaces as well. There is a FREE parking lot at the Golden Coral Restaurant down the street.

Final Player and Cheerleader Certification is scheduled for Saturday, August 28th at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. The scheduled certification time for CCYS is 10:30am. Players must report to the Fairgrounds no later 9:00 am. Please keep in mind that all players and cheerleaders from CCYS enter the certification area at the same time. If a player or cheerleader is late, we can’t guarantee they be will allowed to certify.

Please download the 2010 Final Certification Info Sheet and the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds Parking Map from the Links section of the website. Additionally, please remember that there is a charge to park. The parking fee is $5.00 per car.(except passenger vans, buses and R/V’s which are $15.00).

2010 PPWLS Jamboree @ YB High

The 2010 PPWLS Jamboree is scheduled for Sunday, August 29th at YBHS. All CCYS football teams will play at YBHS except the Junior Midgets. The Junior Midgets will play at Gilroy HS at 1:00pm. Although all regular season games are free,there is an admission charge for PPWLS Jamboree. The admission fee is $8.00 for adults and kids (16 or older). Volunteer Assignments

Thanks to all the parents who signed up for their volunteer assignments. We appreciate your commitment to our program. We will be sending out reminder emails at the beginning of the week leading up to the CCYS event.

We still have parents who need to sign up for their volunteer assignments. Please Karnisha Garner (CCYS Communications Director or your team manager to get your name on the list. Please remember that all parents are required to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours.

Scrimmages

CCYS has two controlled scrimmages scheduled in the month of August.

The first scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, August 14th vs. the South Valley Grizzlies at Gunderson HS. The times for each team will be announced shortly.

The second controlled scrimmage is CCYS Jamboree scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Yerba Buena HS. We will have at least 3 programs (Mountain View, Redwood City and Santa Clara) and we have two other programs (Monterey and San Jose) who have requested to participate. We are currently working out the final schedule and it should also be announced shortly.
